Jira draws the loudest hate of any tracker on Hacker News — recurring themes are sluggishness, configuration bloat that accretes custom fields until teams export to Excel, and open speculation about whether it survives the current wave of lighter tools. Its defenders are specific rather than sentimental: Jira Cloud fixed much of the old on-prem slowness, and its configurability still absorbs multi-team org sprawl that Linear and Trello can't.
